Regis Burnside in South Australia has honoured eight residents aged 100 and over with a special celebration, bringing together their fellow residents, families and the local community to mark the significant milestone.

The Mayor of the City of Burnside also attended, reflecting the importance of celebrating older Australians and their ongoing role in the community.

The guests of honour were Cecil Ireland, 104, Peggy Margaret Kingham, 103, Pauline Croft, 102, Isabel William, 101 and Cecily Hicks, 101, alongside Aileen Ellis, Elizabeth Mulvaney and Betty Jean Moeller, who have each celebrated their 100th birthday this year.

Together, these residents represent a depth of experience shaped by family, community and the lives they’ve built over time, with many joined on the day by the people who have been part of that journey.

During the morning, residents were asked what they believe has helped them reach 100.

“Good living, faith and making your own fun,” said Pauline, with Isabel adding, “keep your interests and your body going. Make the most of each day you get.”

At Regis, we are privileged to care for people who have lived rich and extraordinary lives. Celebrations like this recognise not only a significant milestone, but also the lasting contributions our residents have made to their families, communities and the world around them. By sharing their stories and celebrating their achievements, we help ensure those experiences continue to be valued and remembered.
