Newsroom

For Sue, volunteering at Regis is more than a weekly commitment, it’s something she truly loves.

“I just love coming down here and spending time with the residents, listening to their stories and brightening their day,” she says. “If I can cheer them up a little bit and give them a hug, they seem to love a bit of contact and a joke.”

Every Tuesday, Sue runs bingo and makes sure there’s laughter in the room. “I was dressed nicely so that there’s something for them to talk about when I come,” she adds.

Over the years, she’s built strong connections with residents. “I think they like somebody to talk to, somebody to listen to them and ask about their lives. I just love them all.”

Her favourite part? The conversations. “When you get to know them and hear their life stories, I just love them. It’s good to know that I’ve helped brighten a little bit of their day.”
