Across our homes last week, residents and employees came together to acknowledge Harmony Week, and think about inclusion, respect and the value of cultural diversity.
At Regis Holland Park, residents shared heartfelt messages for one another and for staff on the ‘Wall of Harmony’. This created a beautiful visual display of the culture of kindness and appreciation in the Home.
Resident Ian reflected on the day, saying, “It’s all about love and peace for everyone who lives and works here. It feels really good to see this being celebrated.”
Resident Tiri also shared her thoughts, adding, “This place is so diverse, with people from many different cultures, it’s truly beautiful to see.”
At Regis Birkdale, Harmony Week was celebrated over coffee and freshly baked donuts in the garden. The outdoor space filled with chatter as residents and employees exchanged stories.
Regis Lutwyche looked especially colourful as employees and residents decorated with orange, the colour representing Harmony Week.
In the week leading up to the celebrations, resident Iris made paper orange flowers to give everyone on the day.
Iris gets real pride from decorating the Home for events like Harmony Week. “I love being useful and filling my day,” she said. “I’m grateful to have something special to work on, it gives me purpose.”
At Regis Port Macquarie, residents and employees shared ‘harmony hearts’ and dressed in orange to mark the occasion.
The celebrations continued at Regis Magnolia, where residents and employees also dressed up and enjoyed a special morning tea in recognition of Harmony Week.
At Regis, Harmony Week provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate diversity and the sense of belonging shared across our homes.
