Residents from Regis Aged Care homes across Victoria gathered together this week in The Windsor Hotel’s iconic Grand Ballroom for a high tea to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The Ballroom, a heritagelisted space known for its stainedglass domes and grand marble fireplaces, was the perfect setting to celebrate the centuries of love and support provided by the more than 100 mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers in the room.

“I celebrated my 80th birthday here, so it’s been great to be here 10 years later at this lovely party with such nice ladies. Today has been wonderful,” shared 91-year-old Regis Brighton resident Eileen.

The event brought together residents from 18 Regis residential aged care homes, retirement living villages and home care regions offering them  the chance to celebrate and honour the mothers in our Regis community and remember the important women in their own lives.

Regis Acting Group General Manager – South, Alan Bouchereau, said the event honors the mothers and mother-figures now residing in Regis homes and and supports them to remain engaged in the community and with each other.

“This high tea is about celebrating the incredible women in our care and recognising the important roles they’ve played as mothers and matriarchs,” MrBouchereau said.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with one another and enjoy a meaningful experience outside their everyday routines.”

Participating in shared activities supports cognitive wellbeing for older Australians, while also helping maintain meaningful community connections.
