While reading the monthly resident newsletter, Regis Chelmer (Qld) resident Yla was surprised and delighted to recognise her old friend Elizabeth, whom she had lost touch with years ago and who now lives at Regis Holland Park. After speaking with her Home’s team, a reunion was organised.
It was a truly meaningful morning as the two reconnected. Elizabeth said, “This is just wonderful, seeing my lovely friend Yla again.” With a smile, she added, “Moments like this remind you how special lifelong friendships really are.”
Yla and Elizabeth have shared a friendship spanning more than 50 years. They first met when their children attended the same school and their daughters grew up side-by-side.
Yla says their, “friendship has truly been a happy story,” and added, “it feels like no time has passed at all, we just picked up right where we left off.”
Both women expressed how much they appreciated the inter-home visit and the meaningful connections it helps create. “It’s such a beautiful idea, it brings people back together,” Elizabeth shared. Yla agreed, adding, “this has been such a special day for me. I’m so grateful we found each other again.”
Yla has already invited Elizabeth to visit her at Regis Chelmer, eager to return the visit and show her around the Home.
As the two went to say goodbye, Elizabeth walked Yla to the bus. “I didn’t want to let her go,” Elizabeth said, while Yla added, “now that we know where to find each other, we won’t lose touch again.”
The friends are already looking forward to their next reunion, a High Tea at Regis Chelmer.
