South Australian residents from Regis Kingswood, Regis Marleston, Regis Playford and Regis Burnside recently came together for a shared day out along the River Torrens, boarding Adelaide’s iconic Popeye for a relaxing cruise through the city.
The outing came from resident feedback, with many expressing interest in experiencing the well-known river cruise. For some, it was a chance to revisit a familiar Adelaide landmark. For others, it was their first time on the water.
As the boat made its way along the river, residents settled into conversation, sharing stories and pointing out landmarks along the way. Seeing the city from this perspective brought back memories for some, while others simply enjoyed taking in the views at a slower pace.
A Devonshire morning tea was served on board, followed by fresh sandwiches for lunch, giving residents time to relax and enjoy the experience together.
“Being able to see an area of Adelaide not otherwise able to be seen was really enjoyable,” said Janet, a resident at Regis Kingswood. “Just slowly motoring along was so peaceful.”
Bringing residents together from multiple homes also created an opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with others, extending social connections beyond each Home.
At Regis, activities like this are shaped by what residents want to do, supporting them to stay connected with their community and continue enjoying the places and experiences that matter to them.
