Yesterday, Regis was delighted to bring together 120 residents from 15 Homes in Victoria. With months in the planning, we were able to arrange a memorable day out and lunch at the MCG, just days before the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

Many of our residents had already experienced the magnificence of being in the stadium to watch their teams battle it out against one another. The day was an opportunity to come together to reminisce about past Grand Finals, chat all things footy and connect with residents from across the state.

To make the day extra special Regis arranged for an AFL legend to make a guest appearance. Kevin Sheedy, who is renowned as one of the greatest players and coaches in history, delighted our residents by delivering a fun and moving speech.

Alan Bouchereau, Regional General Manager, shared: “Outings like this are extremely important for all our residents to engage with the community and with each other. It provides a sense of connection and belonging and is a space to share memories of years gone by. To coincide with the AFL Grand Final week, what better way to get in the spirit and feel the excitement.”

Michelle Martella, Executive General Manager Support Services, expressed that Regis was dedicated to supporting residents to continue to live interesting, connected and fulfilled lives where they can continue to gain new experiences and engage with each other.

“Regis is passionate about creating these types of community outings as we are focused on enriching the lives of those who choose to live with us,” she said.

“Yesterday I had the privilege of seeing the strength of friendship between fellow residents, as well as new friendships being made. Staying connected and having a purpose is so important for social and emotional wellbeing. This shone through with comradery and smiles around the room. It was beautiful to see the connection not only between residents, but also between residents and our caring employees.”

This day is an example of our commitment to enriching lives and creating lifelong memories. By providing opportunities for exploration, connection, and genuine happiness, we continue to redefine and enhance the experiences of senior Australians.
