All in the pool! Our Musgrave residents got their bathers out and made a splash at the Sandgate Aquatic Centre, where they took to the indoor heated pool for lots of swimming-related fun. Our residents were a hit with the other keen swimmers, as they interacted with the mums and bubs sessions and told fond stories of their times at the local pool. Di gushed about cheering on her children at school swimming carnivals, while Dawn reminisced about travelling to another school to take part in her carnival as her school could not afford a pool.

Our residents also shared some valuable aquatic advice to the local parents about “Kids Alive – Do the Five”, a fun but essential rhyme that involves:

  1. Fence the pool
  2. Shut the gate
  3. Teach your kids to swim – it’s great
  4. Supervise – watch your mate
  5. Learn how to resuscitate

Our highlight was seeing Dawn interact with one of the children as they splashed and laughed together, with Dawn assisting the little girl in familiarising herself with being in the water. We love seeing our residents connect with community members and passing on their wise advice and knowledge.

At Regis, we take great pride and pleasure in realising our residents’ goals. When Dawn remarked that she “would like to go swimming again”, we quickly took for the water!
