Meet Yun Chen, a Registered Nurse (RN) also known as Annie amongst residents of Regis Hurstville in New South Wales. She is an outstanding individual who is admired by many of the residents and employees at the Home.

As a Registered Nurse, Annie’s responsibilities include performing physical examinations, administering medication and performing wound care on the residents. She also supervises our Assistants in Nursing, liaises with the allied health team, and communicates with our residents and families.

When asked what attracted her to work in the aged care sector, Annie replied, “I really enjoy helping the elderly and the flexible working hours in aged care suit my lifestyle.”

Annie values the good teamwork shown at Regis Hurstville and expressed that there is a high level of cooperation within the Home.

She emphasised that the greatest motivation for her working at Regis is having an employer that recognizes the hard work by the staff. When asked what advice she would give to those wanting a career in aged care, she replied, “You will learn to be patient with the elderly and empathise with them. You will treat them as if they were your own family members.” Annie added good communication skills are also needed as it is essential to communicate well with the residents and their family members in order to build a good rapport with them.
