Meet Charles Sauer, one of our Clinical Support Specialists working in our State Office in Perth. Charles previously worked as a teacher for fourteen years and many of the skills and attributes he obtained in that career have transferred to his current role. In both roles he’s able to teach and coach, work closely with different teams, as well as work autonomously.

Charles began his nursing career in New Zealand and worked across many disciplines in hospitals. After working in orthopaedic, surgical and medical wards, Charles eventually came to the realisation that nursing in aged care combined all of these specialities into one – making it the perfect role for him to pursue.

When asked what else attracted him to work in the aged care sector, Charles said: “Helping the elderly to live a happy and healthy life because quality of life is very important to me. There are many areas to specialise in, for example wound care or dementia care, and in my current role I’m able to coach and be a role model for other nurses and carers alike.” Charles acknowledges how rewarding it is to work in aged care and how exceptional it is to work in the sector.

“Providing care and support in a specialised area like aged care has its own rewards; you can connect with the elderly in a special way that is truly unique.

Charles shared with us that the Regis values echo his personal beliefs: Optimism, Passion, Integrity and Respect. Our team is proud to have such an enthusiastic and dedicated employee be a part of our warm and welcoming family.

Having five grandchildren, Charles is a self-proclaimed family man and loves spending time with all his family. Outside of work he also enjoys watching Formula One and smoking meats on his Weber BBQ.

Charles expressed “Home is my safe and comfort place, where I can truly be myself. Home is my castle.”
