This International Women’s Day, we are showcasing some of the remarkable women whose journeys epitomise dedication, resilience, and compassion. Meet Jade McGaw, Regional General Manager, whose career demonstrates her commitment to aged care and exemplifies the empowerment of women in the workforce.

Jade’s journey into the aged care sector spans over 15 years and is marked by diverse roles that have shaped her into the leader she is today. Starting as a Nurse, to roles in Admission, Care and Clinical Management, Quality and Governance, to General and Regional Management, Jade’s multifaceted experience positions her as a role model for aspiring professionals.

Jade embarked on her Regis journey in March 2020, starting as General Manager at Regis Sandringham. She later moved on to become the General Manager of Regis East Malvern in April 2021, and within two years, Jade was appointed as a Regional General Manager in the Southern Portfolio in March 2022, a testament to her leadership skills.

When asked what she enjoys most about working with the elderly, Jade said “it is the connection I have with our residents. I have always felt it is a real privilege to be able to provide care to a person. It takes trust and connection.”

“Aged care has always been my calling. After my range of experience within this industry, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have been given and would certainly recommend a career in aged care.

“My career in aged care has enriched my life by giving me a sense of purpose. The value that I get in knowing that every day I am actively working towards achieving greater outcomes for the residents in our care is one of the reasons why I love my role,” says Jade.

Her tenure at Regis is marked by significant achievements, including leading homes during the first wave of COVID-19 outbreaks and playing a crucial role in formulating the Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) policy. Jade said, “my most significant milestone is being appointed Regional General Manager of the South.”

As International Women’s Day approaches with the theme “Count her in. Invest in women: Accelerate progress,” Jade resonates strongly with this call to action.

“I have always been a firm believer in gender equality and breaking down the barriers impeding upon opportunities for growth and career progression for women. As a working mother who has recently returned from maternity leave, I have felt a great sense of empowerment and support from Regis to continue achieving my career goals,” she said.

Jade’s career and journey at Regis Aged Care stands as an inspiration and highlights the vital role that women play in accelerating progress and making a lasting impact on the lives of those they impact.
