The role of the Registered Nurse is the holistic assessment and personalised planning of therapeutic and daily care needs of our residents/clients. Registered Nurses focus on delivering high quality, coordinated clinical care which involves the delegation and supervision of Enrolled Nurses and Carers, and collaboration with the person, their decision-makers (if applicable), and medical and other health professionals.
Enrolled Nurses work under the delegation and supervision of Registered Nurses to provide and coordinate the care of residents/clients, supervise Care staff and support the effective and efficient functioning of the care team. Enrolled Nurses are responsible for ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation of resident/client care, acting as a resource for employees supporting and monitoring training and assessing the competency of care staff.

Graduate Nurses employed by Regis participate in an eleven-month development program to support them in their first year as Registered Nurses. The program is unique to the organisation and is designed to guide their professional development as clinicians and clinical shift leaders. Our Graduate Nurses are supported by highly experienced Nurse Preceptors, Clinical Managers and nurse colleagues, to work through a structured plan aimed at ensuring the delivery of excellent clinical care for our residents whilst building the individual Nurses’ capability and confidence. Regis believes that the benefit of this program is growing and retaining high quality, committed Registered Nurses and developing nursing leaders of the future.
The Graduate Nurse Preceptor is responsible for working with each Graduate Nurse to build clinical skills, confidence, leadership capability, critical thinking and decision-making ability, following a structured development framework. The Preceptor provides support visits to Graduates, shadowing Graduates as they work, providing one-to-one coaching on the job. The Preceptor also consults with the Facility Manager and Clinical Manager about the Graduate’s progress against program milestones.
Regis Clinical Managers are highly experienced nurse clinicians who oversee the clinical care of the residents in our homes. Like all Regis nurses, Clinical Managers work in collaboration with individual residents, their family and decision-makers, as well as other clinicians, to enable our residents to live their best life with us, in the manner they choose. Overseeing the provision of high-quality clinical care is assured, continually reviewing resident care and supporting our Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses clinical decision making and development. In addition, our Clinical Managers fulfill a vital Clinical Governance and continuous improvement role, ensuring that the care in our homes exceeds the required Aged Care Quality Standards through a structured program of clinical audits and analysis. They are supported in this by our Regis Quality and Clinical Support Teams, all of whom are highly qualified and experienced RNs.
The BOOST program is designed to ensure all Regis Nurses are delivering consistently high-quality care to our residents. BOOST is a 3-day face-to-face program lead by subject matter experts who are themselves experienced Registered Nurses.
BOOST focusses on clinical documentation, specialised nursing care, shift management and leadership skills. Classes consist of small cohorts of Enrolled and Registered Nurses which enables the sharing of experiences and ensures competence.
The Regis Advance Registered Nurse program is a 4-month commitment designed to support the development of our most talented Registered Nurses who aspire to become our Clinical Managers of the future. This course provides a career pathway that enables these Registered Nurses to act in relieving Clinical Manager roles to backfill leave and support other homes, thus gaining valuable experience and supporting their career development.

Participants receive in-depth coaching and support throughout the program from Clinical Managers as they work through a series of activities to complete the requirements of their program. Their hard work is then celebrated with a Graduation day.
Each year Regis conducts a Training Needs Survey to gather feedback from our Nursing Staff on topic areas they would like to further education in. We use this feedback to deliver a 10-month schedule of Study Days.
