Margaret has called Regis Rosebud home since May 2024. She grew up in Melbourne and spent much of her life dedicated to a career in healthcare, a path that began with volunteering and turned into a role she loved.
Her interest in helping others started early. Margaret began as a volunteer at the Queen Victoria Hospital, where she quickly became known for her commitment and reliability. Later, she moved to Monash Medical Centre, and it was there that her proudest moment happened.
“When I arrived for the interview, the lady said we could skip it because she had heard all about me. I was so pleased,” Margaret recalls. That role gave her independence and financial stability after her marriage and it brought her deep satisfaction knowing she was making a difference in people’s lives.
Today, Margaret enjoys reading and listening to music. She values her own company but is learning to be more social since moving to Regis. Theme days and concerts have become highlights, with Music Day standing out as a favourite. “There were dress-ups, music, dancing and a live concert. I enjoyed watching all the festivities,” she shares.
After living alone for more than 45 years, Margaret says moving to Regis has given her a new sense of independence. “I thought I loved living alone, and I did, but I really love it here,” she says.
Her advice to anyone considering aged care is simple: “Enjoy yourself. That’s why it’s here. Take the best of it and enjoy it.”
