Reggie is a well-known and much-loved resident at Regis Cranbourne, recognised for her willingness to have a chat to anyone, and her active lifestyle. Born in Germany, she moved to Australia at around three years of age and has built a life centred on caring for her community.
Moving into Regis Cranbourne mid-2024 marked a significant lifestyle change for Reggis, but she settled in quickly and soon became a familiar face among residents and team members. Her days are busy and social, and she is highly passionate about health and wellbeing.
One of her proudest achievements in aged care has been her commitment to staying physically active. Reggie uses the exercise pedal bike three times a day and makes a conscious effort to stay hydrated, always carrying a large water bottle with her. Being able to continue this passion of hers in her new home was unexpected for Reggie. “What surprised me most was being able to motivate myself to use the pedal bike and drink lots of water for my health and mobility,” she says.
Reggie enjoys a wide range of lifestyle activities including bingo, Hoy, coffee club, happy hour, entertainment, bocce, bus outings and movie afternoons. She prefers dining in the dining room so she can socialise, saying, “I like to keep busy and try new things.”
A passionate socialiser, Reggie’s fondest memories include nights out dancing with friends. Today, her outgoing nature shows through her special efforts to welcome new residents. Her advice for anyone considering aged care is clear: “It takes time to adjust, but with support from the team and other residents, it becomes easier. Keep an open mind about living a different life that can still be enjoyable and fulfilling.”
