At Regis Dandenong North in Victoria, resident Tehea is marking ANZAC Day in her own way, creating a wreath of crocheted poppies to be laid during the home’s service.
Over several months, Tehea has made 100 individual poppies by hand, to be brought together to form a wreath that reflects remembrance and respect. Tehea, who enjoys crochet and creative projects, came up with the idea and sought support from the Home to source a pattern so she could begin work.
“I just kept going, one after the other,” she said. “It felt good knowing what they were for.”
For Tehea, the project became a way to contribute to a day that holds meaning for many residents.
“These days are important. I wanted to do something that everyone could be part of,” she said.
The wreath will be laid during the home’s ANZAC Day service, creating a shared moment for residents, employees and families.
At Regis Dandenong North, these personal contributions shape how important days are experienced in the home. Residents are supported to take part in ways that feel meaningful to them.
