At Regis Port Coogee in Western Australia, a recent cultural diversity day brought residents, family members and team members together for a vibrant celebration of the many cultures that make our community so special.
Residents and families moved through the Home, stopping at colourful displays, tasting homemade dishes and sharing stories of where they’ve come from. As they wandered from table to table, conversations unfolded naturally, carrying memories, traditions and moments of discovery with them.
Together, the day reflected the many cultures that shape the Home, including Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, India, China, Italy and South Africa.
“I never realised there were so many different cultures around me. I felt so welcomed and proud to be part of such a caring and inclusive community,.” shared resident Glenda.
Team member, Rozlyn, also spoke about the impact of the event, highlighting the pride in sharing their culture and the way it brings people closer together.
“Events like this bring so much joy to our workplace and inspire us to continue creating meaningful and happy experiences for our residents every single day.”
Cultural diversity day highlighted the role of our Homes as communities, where residents and their families come together, share experiences and build lasting connections. It also reflected our commitment to recognising and celebrating the cultures, traditions and life experiences that residents bring with them, helping to ensure these important parts of their identity continue to be shared, remembered and valued.
