Alcina has attended the Darwin Day Respite Centre 5 days per week for 7 years. Due to the recent closure of the Day Respite program due to COVID-19, Alcina is receiving 2 hours of in-home respite each day. This has helped with Alcina’s emotional wellbeing at this time. Alcina is so excited when Day Respite facilitator Katrina arrives and insists on making Katrina a cup of tea after both practicing good hand hygiene. Alcina and Katrina laughed together all morning while beading and finishing off her Easter hanging basket. Alcina is very happy with the support at home especially by continuing with her daily exercises, craft activities and teaching Katrina Portuguese. We think the smile on Alcina’s face says it all!
